The saying goes, “There’s nothing so stable as change.” But that doesn’t mean I’m a fan of it. In fact, I really don’t like it. However, no matter how hard we try, change is always around the corner.
As many of you know, I started this blog nearly three years ago. It began as simply a hobby. The Teacher Diva was merely a creative outlet to share thoughts and moments in my life with my family and friends. I wanted my content to focus on my life with Austin, our traveling adventures, fun hair and beauty tips, and the occasional outfit post. From the beginning, I wanted this blog to be a place to share my daily inspiration with the world and to serve as a creative outlet.
Never did I think this site would provide such amazing opportunities. Over the past three years, I've had the chance to work with some of my favorite brands, travel to new places and meet some truly inspirational people. It has been an incredible (and scary) journey, but something I have loved every minute of. Each day, I look forward to sharing my new post with you.
But the journey hasn’t been easy. As my name suggests, I have also been teaching full-time while blogging part-time. Since I was eight years old, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. Whenever someone would ask what I wanted to be when I grow up, my answer was "teacher” without a second thought. As I made my way through college, receiving my Bachelor and Master of ...
On My Desk
Happy Wednesday! Today I wanted to share some new desk accessories as of late. I often get asked questions about my desk (both at home and at school) and usually they involve: Where'd you get that? and Where do you shop? I am always updating my desk setup with new gadgets or little containers to help me organize. I can't help but love cute accessories to keep me motivated to get things done.
I always shop online to find unique and one of a kind desk accessories. White Elephant Designs makes the best acrylics. I love using their letter holder to hold letters (imagine that!) and a few business cards. Monogrammed trinkets are always a fun way to personalize your work space! Waiting on Martha is another shop that I am constantly checking out. She has amazing finds from Kate Spade and so many cute paper goods that I could easily find an excuse to buy every note pad on her site! Target is another place I recommend checking out. It's always affordable and their
West Elm Style Session
West Elm Dallas & The Teacher Diva - Workspace Style Session from West Elm Dallas on Vimeo.
Happy Tuesday everyone! I am excited to share a little project I have been working on with West Elm Dallas + Mockingbird Station. When West Elm Dallas reached out to me to share what inspires me, it was easy. My home office. It's the space where I can go and feel inspiration, creativity and oddly enough, relaxed. Not only do I use it for blogging, but I am also using it as an area to create lessons and seek inspiration in the classroom as well. Therefore it's important to me to have a space that is functional for both areas of my life.
With the help of West Elm's awesome staff and the Mockingbird Station Lofts, we were able to create a simple, yet chic, work area. I kept it simple with the Parsons Desk in white and added pops of colors through prints, florals and decorative objects like this adorable french bulldog plate (I'm obsessed!).
We want to see what inspires you for Fall and give you an opportunity for you to win a $500 West Elm Dallas ...
On My Desk with Remodo
I have always had a weakness for desk accessories and office supplies. This may not come as a surprise considering I am a teacher, but I actually get excited to buy new pens and don't even get me started on a new notepad. I recently was introduced to Remodo, an online interior design company dedicated to young adults and anyone who likes cute home goodies. Started in August 2013 by sisters Amanda and Whitney Fox, the site provides fresh, stylish options for all your home and office needs. I couldn't resist this leopard lucite tray and this blue "notes" pad...too cute!
Want to get in on all the Remodo fun? They are on their "Remodo on the Road" tour right now and their next stop is Dallas! They will be in town August 22nd-23rd and they would love for you to stop by their mobile showroom. Stop by the SMU campus during the day on Friday, August 22nd or on Saturday, August 23rd, at Dallas Contemporary in the Design District Market from 12-8pm. You can follow along via instagram with #Remodoontheroad to get all the behind the scenes details.
Visitors have the option to work with Amanda and Whitney, ask design questions, see products such as pillows, lamps, rugs, chairs, ...
For The Home | Desk Accessories
Last week I posted this picture of my desk on Instagram and had no idea it would get such positive feedback. I received many emails and comments requesting more pictures and details so I figured- why not give you guys a front row view! Office supplies might be one of my weaknesses, right next to buying lipstick. Maybe it's the teacher in me, but I get so excited to see new (and cute) office supplies.
I should probably clarify, this is not my teacher desk (I only wish my teacher desk was this cute and clean). This is the desk I use at home. After moving a couple weeks ago, we are finally getting things organized. But please don't be fooled, if only you could see the mess of laundry behind my right now. I will be sure to post a home office tour once things are finished. What items do you keep on your desk? I am always looking to find new little accessories for the office. It just seems to make working that much better, right?
