Recent Beauty Buys

Recent Beauty Buys

With a new season approaching, it's time to start transitioning our summer makeup to something a little more neutral or bold for Fall. Just like we switch up our wardrobe, the same is true for our makeup. Here are a few easy ways to freshen up your makeup bag for fall. Before I start sharing my recent beauty finds, what better way to store your makeup than a personalized makeup bag or monogrammed acrylic case? These are two items that will definitely last you all year long, and are perfect for storing your makeup or jewelry. Makeup brushes can make all the difference when applying foundation or contouring. Recently, I purchased 3 new brushes from Sigma Beauty. I am new to the brand, but was pretty impressed with the reviews and the price point. Brushes can be so expensive, but these seemed more affordable than most and still maintained good quality. So are they worth it? Yes! These brushes are amazing. They are made from Sigmax Synthetic Fibers, meaning they don't absorb liquid or cream foundations and I have found that they don't shed like many natural hair brushes. Using these brushes have made a huge difference with applying my makeup ...

Pink Dress & Lace Up Flats

Pink Dress & Lace Up Flats

A few weeks ago,  I went to NYC for the last few days of Fashion Week and to work on an upcoming project launching next month. I always love trips to New York. And while they are usually very short, I always make time to enjoy the city, try new food and of course walk 5th Ave. This Printed Drop Waist Dress couldn't have been more perfect for this trip. This comfortable dress made for the perfect look while walking from meeting to meeting. Not to mention, it does not wrinkle. I was very surprised to pull this out of my suitcase (fully expecting to steam it) and noticed that it was in great condition. My Lace Up Flats (back in stock and under $75) were also a nice break from heels. I always love an excuse to wear these shoes! This dress & shoe combo will definitely be coming with me on any trips in the near future. Thanks for stopping by and have a great Monday! xx OUTFIT DETAILS: ASOS Pink Geo Print Drop Waist Dress (FIT: The style is meant to be "shifty" and loose, I am wearing a small and I am 5'6) | Steve Madden

Boho Dress

Boho Dress

Happy Sunday! I wanted to share a quick look that is perfect to wear as we transition to Fall weather. I loved wearing this Free People Dress during our stay in Cabo last month (see here) but I also think the style and color makes for a perfect fall dress as well. How to take it from summer to fall is simple. Just throw on your favorite booties and you're all set. Also, many of you ask about fit and sizing, which can be tricky when ordering online, so I hear you. I try to always include a little blurb about that at the bottom of each post but, if you still have questions feel free to email me (theteacherdiva@gmail.com) I love to hear from you guys! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the weekend!

Now that fall is officially here, I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite shoes and bags for the new season. Some of these you've seen before, but I love them so much I wanted to share again. Also, I know a few you have requested some good flats and booties for under $200, so I was sure to include those as well! On that note, I am so excited to share with you a fun event that I am co-hosting next Thursday, October 1st at Neiman Marcus inside Willowbend Mall. The event will highlight some of my favorite shoe and handbag trends for fall, so be sure to come say hello and check out the new collections. Personally, I have my eye on these flats and love this little crossbody for Fall. I will be there a long with my dear friends, Bishop & Holland. The runway presentation will start shortly after 6:00pm. Feel free to get there early, to grab a seat on the front row! We hope to see you there! ...

From Barre to Brunch

From Barre to Brunch

When it comes to physical fitness, there are a couple things that help fuel my motivation. For starters, it's always more fun with friends. I think some of us can agree that it is definitely more motivating working out with someone else. During the week, I alternate between Pure Barre and Camp Gladiator. A couple of my teacher friends and I signed up together, so we are often texting each other to see what class we are attending. It keeps me motivated to not back out (we've all been there) and it's always fun to see a familiar face. Second, I am always motivated by good looking gear. I love a great pair of leggings. You know, the kind you can wear outside of the gym and still look "effortlessly chic".  I think we can all admit that active wear is not just limited to physical activities so why not have a pair that you love? These Moto Leggings from Carbon 38 are simply amazing. Not only are they very flattering, but they are practical for many activities.  I also love longer, loose fitting tops to wear during Barre. I love the fit of this one and actually plan to wear it ...

Mixprint Shirt Dress

Mixprint Shirt Dress

The shirtdress has recently become one of my favorite dress styles. I wore a self tie version on many occasions throughout the summer and still plan to find ways to incorporate it into my fall wardrobe. Another style that I wear often is my black a line shirtdress.  Both are versatile dresses for work or play, and I was excited to add to my collection with this Mixprint version from Loft (now 50% off). This classic style is one of my favorites. I like that this particular style can be worn belted, or alone as a s shift dress. I can't wait to wear this with tall boots (...still waiting for them to arrive!) and leggings. I also have to add that this is a great dress for travel. I took this dress on a recent trip and was pleasantly surprised how well it held up in my carry on. There were little to no wrinkles at all. Now, that's my kind of dress! Hope you guys have a great start to your week and thanks for reading! xx

Tan Striped Scarf

Tan Striped Scarf

Happy weekend everyone! I have been a little absent the past few days, and wanted to share a perfect look for transitioning to fall. This scarf has been one of the best accessories. I couldn't believe it was a Forever 21 find! I have worn it so many times and am always impressed with the quality. It was perfect to wear while traveling home from New York this morning. I was up there for the final festivities of Fashion Week and to shoot for a campaign I'm working on that will launch this Fall. I can't wait to share it with you in the next few months. Hope you guys have a restful weekend and thanks for stopping by! OUTFIT DETAILS: Forever 21 Scarf (also comes in more colors) | Forever 21

Neutrals for Fall

Neutrals for Fall

There are some rules for fashion that should never be broken, but white after Labor Day is not one of them. Actually, white and shades of nude are a big trend we are seeing for Fall and Winter. And while I personally love either look, it can be tricky to pull off. If you're ready to test out this trend, here are a few things to remember. When wearing white, try ivory or cream rather than bright white. It can definitely be more flattering with your skin tone and still looks very chic. A tip that my mom told me, is to remember that white has the opposite effect of black. While black is slimming, white tends to not be so generous...ha! If the all white look isn't for you, I suggest starting with a combo similar to this. This Funnel Neck Sweater by Topshop is the perfect shade of nude. I love the texture and it's a great pice to have for layering or to wear alone. It almost gives the vibe of a chunky sweater, without the extra bulk. This sweater also comes in cream, so you could switch this look around and keep cream on the top and pair with some tan plants similar to these. Picking a nude or tan that is a little darker than your skin, is always recommended. I kept this outfit very neutral by pairing it with these white pants (

Grey Shawl Cardigan

Grey Shawl Cardigan

Often, I get questions about work appropriate outfits or how to dress up black skinnies. When I was teaching, I wore black skinnies almost every day. I kid you not, I had three pairs that I rotated and a pair of cropped skinnies that I would wear when it was hot. It was easy, comfortable and I loved the way they looked with round or pointed toe flats. Now that we are transitioning to Fall, I love this Shawl Knit Coat. It's so soft and not too heavy. It actually feels more like a cardigan than a coat. This is the perfect example of what I would wear in the classroom or a office setting. My old classroom was notoriously cold, so you would always find me in layers. If you've read my blog for a while, you know I have a thing for cardigans! They really are my favorite fall accessory and they easily complete any look. Thanks for stopping by! xx

10 Looks you Need for Fall

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. We were pretty busy doing more work on our house and spend some time shopping for office and "man cave" furniture. This has been a long project but I am hoping to get everything purchased before my trip on Wednesday. I have the hardest time committing and making up my mind. Any one else out there struggle with that? I can't wait to share the big reveal in October! I wanted to share with you some quick tips & outfit suggestions for Fall. I've received quite a few emails and comments requesting fall outfits and while I love fall, it's still 90 degrees in Dallas. I will try to get more Fall looks posted, but in the meantime, here are some of my favorite looks over the past couple of years that I can't wait to wear again this season. Some of the items are no longer available, but I did my best to try and track down very similar items. If you have any questions, please let me know! On a side note, I am very honored to be nominated for a beauty blogger award! If you get a chance, please vote for me here. Thank you!! xx Blue Check Poncho Similar Grey Knit Cardigan | Similar Boyfriend Jeans |
