In just a few short hours, I will be on my way to experience my very first Fashion Week in New York City. I am so excited to be traveling with dear friends, Bishop & Holland, and I can't wait to share some exciting collaborations & projects with you! Oh and I know you are all thinking, a teacher at fashion week?! So yes, a teacher at fashion week. Crazy!
Packing for an event like Fashion Week can be an exciting, yet daunting task. However, I was so excited when Portero wanted to team up to share my packing list for NYFW. Portero is one of the leading companies in selling authentic, vintage bags and the only place I go to for gently used accessories. This Louis Vuitton Duffle from Portero was the perfect size for a quick trip. Not only does it do the job, but it looks great too!
In my bag, you will find some fun heels, like these new lace up booties from Steve Madden. Or of course, the classic Valentino Rock Stud Pump. I also threw in some flats because, let's be honest, there's no way ...
Travel Diaries | NYC
Part two of our little get away was spent in New York City. That city is probably one of my favorite places next to San Francisco. The skyline, restaurants, boutiques...I love it all. We arrived Thursday morning ready to see everything New York had to offer. To our surprise, we scored tickets to see The Letterman Show that afternoon. We weren't expecting to see Letterman nor are we "die-hard" fans, but it was actually pretty fun! I loved getting to see behind the scenes and being a part of a live audience. I also got to see one of my favorite actors, Bryan Cranston...I am a huge Breaking Bad fan.
Friday was our true full day in the city and we were determined to see as much as possible. We started out early and walked from our hotel to breakfast where we fueled ourselves with coffee and omelets at Sarabeths's before heading to Central Park. Central Park South is one of my favorite areas. It has so many quaint restaurants nestled on the street overlooking the park. It also is right off 5th Avenue so that is always a plus. Later that night we enjoyed The Lion King on Broadway. It was awesome!
Our favorite eats included Sarabeth's for brunch, Shake Shack for a late night shake, Juniors, Amarone (the best pasta), and Magnolia Bakery. When we weren't eating, we spent our time visiting the Natural History Museum, sipping coffee in the Plaza (A limousine and a cheese pizza anyone?), and walking around Times Square. Until next time, New York!
Boots With The Fur
With Spring quickly approaching, I am really wanting to reach for brighter colors. But there is something I love about the look of black. Last Saturday, we were in NYC and the weather was gorgeous. I was pretty excited to ditch the coat considering days before it was in the teens! This weather called for my favorite Equipment Blouse (told you they are addicting) and this faux fur vest from Nordstrom. It was the perfect get-up for running around town and of course brunching at Sarabeth's.
Wearing: Equipment Signature Slim Blouse // Lark Tiered Tassel Vest (runs big) // J Crew Denim (old, similar, similar) // Dolce Vita Over the Knee Boots (old, similar) // Celine Luggage Tote (similar) // Love Always Couture Rings (monogrammed, evil eye) c/o // Karen Walker
A Day Trip
One of my favorite days in NYC was visiting Lady Liberty via Staten Island Ferry. The best part??? This little outing was a freebie! Though, it was foggy and slightly sprinkling, it was a beautiful view of the city. Did I mention we purchased statue of liberty hats? Because we did. And I must say it was the best purchase of the trip (well, one of them!) No trip to Staten Island would be complete without the proper attire. Although, the trip was a lot of fun, it was humbling in the same. To be completely honest, I was a little hesitant to visit because I figured there would still be some signs of Hurricane Sandy... and I was right. While New York has done an excellent job at cleaning up and getting things up and going, there was definite signs of damage when arriving closer to the peninsula. It was an eerie feeling walking around and seeing street lights fallen over...statues destroyed...and windows replaced with wooden panels. Our hearts go out to all of those who were affected. Here are some of my favorite pics from our Staten Island day trip...enjoy!!
New York Minute
This past weekend, I experienced such a fun weekend in Manhattan with my mom and sister-in-law. We flew out really early Friday morning and returned to Dallas late Sunday night. Goodness gracious, I love New York...such a beautiful and exciting place. These are a few of my favorite pictures from the weekend. I will post more later, but these I had to share now! Enjoy!!
