Easy Makeup Routine

MAKEUP TUTORIAL

While I love to wear makeup just as much as the next girl, I like to keep a rather simple everyday routine. I’ve had a few requests for a little review and tutorial so I thought I’d share some of my recent purchases with you all! Some of you may have seen me use these products on my snapchat yesterday (theteacherdiva) and if you look fast, you may still catch my video from yesterday’s tutorial using these products.

I wanted to share some of old and new favorites starting with this Eyebright Lotion and Moisturiser by Liz Earle. I got these products in the Botanicals Skin Saviours Set from Birchbox and have loved using the skincare line. The Eyebright Soothing Eye Lotion is perfect for refreshing tired and puffy eyes. I apply it every morning with a cotton ball, then follow with the Skin Repair Moisturiser. They smell nice too!

Chanel Liquid Foundation

Next up, is this Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation. My sweet in-laws gave this to me for Christmas and I don’t think they’ve ever seen someone so excited about makeup before. As someone who loves trying new products, this has been on the top of my list. So far, it lives up to the hype. I wear color 30 Beige. This truly is a great natural looking foundation. The price is a bit steep, but I am loving the way it makes my skin look and feel.

As far as coverage goes, it’s pretty light.  With that being said, this would not be the foundation I use to wear for a night out on the town. Not that this isn’t good, I just prefer something a little more heavy duty for a special occasion.  I like to apply the foundation with my Sigma 3DHD Kabuki Brush (this brush is awesome). I apply 3-4 drops on the brush and blend to cover my entire face.

Chanel Makeup

Many of you asked about this concealer yesterday, so I want to be sure to go into some detail about this special product. I am not sure if you know about It Cosmetics, but I heard about it from my sister in law who raved about this concealer over the holidays. I have been having some unfortunate breakouts and was in some serious need of a heavy duty concealer. She recommended Bye Bye Under Eye (love the name) and went on and on about how she used it for eyes and face. I knew this was something I could get on board with. I used the color Light for under eyes.

So this product is very heavy duty (which I love). And if you saw my snapchat, you know what I mean. You only need a tiny amount of product. I found it to be a little intense at first, so I made sure to apply my eye cream first ( I use StriVectin Eye Concentrate) then quickly follow with the concealer. As seen in the photo below, I gently dab little dots around my eye (with the pad of my finger) then blend. You can use a brush too, I just find it easier with my finger. A little goes a long way!

For my cheeks, I still use my trustworthy Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit and my Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in the color Nectar. This time of year my skin tends to get dry, so I don’t mind a subtle shimmer to give it a soft glow. I’ve used both of these products for years and they still work well for me. I apply my bronzer with this Nars Brush and the Bobbi Brown Powder Brush for my blush.

Now let’s talk about lashes. We all are trying to get longer lashes right? I’ve talked about the Better Than Sex Mascara before on here and I love it even more when worn with They’re Real Lash Primer. This combination is truly the best I’ve tried.

This primer is pretty neat. It’s a plastic applicator, and it really get’s your lashes separated and “wispy”. I like a little more volume in my lashes, so I wear the Better Than Sex Mascara over the primer, but if you’re looking for thin, wispy lashes, try using the primer with Roller Lash. I wear that duo occasionally, but BTS is my favorite. Don’t forget the lash curler! I’ve been using this curler for over a year now and it works really well.

For my lids, I use Bobbi Brown Stay All Day Cream Eyeshadow in Sunlight Gold. Simply, swipe color onto your lid then blend with a brush or your finger. My go-to eyeliner is Makeup Forever Aqua Liner in Black. This is the best long lasting eyeliner I’ve tried.

For brows, I am really loving this brown pencil, Brow Power from It Cosmetics. I’ve used a number of brow pencils and this one is up there with my favorites. The shade is “universal” which I was a little scared about, but after trying it, I am really loving the soft, natural look. I also like the brush at the end. It makes it easy to blend! I also use the Brow Couture Mascara by YSL. This is key in my opinion. It helps your brows stay put but it also adds a little texture, volume and length to your brows. I wear color #2, the lighter shade.

And for lips, I am loving this YSL lip color in Nude Beige. I’ve determined it’s my new “everyday lip color” along with Spanish Pink by Tom Ford.
