Beauty Talk | Styling Essentials

For 8 years I worked in a salon. Not as a hairstylist, but a Beauty Advisor, if you will. Sadly, I don’t get to help out any more during summers or holiday breaks, but I still enjoy staying up-to-date on the latest hair fads and product favorites. I have always been one to try and “recreate” the At Home Blowout but let’s be honest, it’s hard! I would much rather invest my time sipping some champagne at The Dry Bar any day, but that just isn’t practical for my daily routine. I found some products that do an awesome job at making your hair look and feel like it’s just received the royal treatment. Enjoy!!

Fine or Thin Hair– I know you gals already are very intimidated of product but I promise, this Kerastase serum is amazing AND amazingly light. It’s recommended to be applied on damp or dry hair- but for fine hair I would definitely apply “fresh out of the shower” wet.  It protects hair from UV rays, heat damage and keeps your locks looking smooth while giving a subtle sheen. If that makes you nervous, go for the Pureology Essential Repair Spray. This is very light and will not weigh the hair down. This is perfect for wet hair and gives a tiny bit of condition. It also protects against heat and UV rays. Gotta keep that color looking fresh!  Either of these will help tame frizz or flyaways and always works best with a round brush. But if your like me, you still have yet to master that one. But really, these help and definitely give you healthy looking hair!

Thick or Dry Hair– Hey to all my gals out there! We are in this together. My hands down fave is the Drybar 100 Proof. Love the smell, love the look. I am a sucker for packaging, but this stuff really works! It is for dry or damp and I have tried it on both. I use it with The Pureology Essential Repair and it helps keep my hair untangled and protected from all the many heat tools that I use on my hair. I also top it off with TIGI Headrush to give it added shine! Any of these also work with the Bumble and Bumble, Blow Dry styling cream. The styling cream is great for those who have a wave or curl they are trying to tame.

Course or Damaged Hair- You will love the It’s a 10 Miracle Styling Serum. This stuff can get heavy but it really works when applied right. You only need a dime, maybe nickel amount and I use it on very wet hair. If I put it on my hair damp or dry it’s too much, but wet works great. This stuff has protein to help repair your hair and give it a healthy look while repairing it little by little with each use. I’ve used it in conjunction with the Bumble and Bumble, Blow Dry and it gave my hair such a soft and smooth texture.

TIP- If you are using a styling cream and a serum, always put the serum on first! Then your lotion or styling cream. What are your faves?!
