Tips on Buying Vintage Bags

20150712-IMG_4585 copy

Recently, I was introduced to Keeks Designer Handbags, a luxury resale boutique specializing in authentic, gently used, designer handbags. Being someone that loves to collect handbags, I was very excited for the opportunity to shop with Keeks. They have a wonderful reputation, and I know I am going to get a quality product.

I often receive many questions about my handbags and many of you asked about the buying process and product quality at Keeks Designer Handbags. I wanted to share with you guys a few tips to consider when shopping vintage or pre-owned items. These are very important to keep in mind when you are making a big purchase!

1. Do Your Research

It is so important to do your research about the company or person you are purchasing from. Not only does Keeks have an outstanding reputation online, but they have many customers who continue to shop with them season after season. Keeks is located in the DFW area (Arlington, Lewisville, and North Dallas) but they also have many customers who purchase online. You can read more about Keeks here.

2. Know Your Brand

To avoid making an impulse buy (we’ve all been there!), be sure to do your research and know the brand you are wanting. Having a list of specific styles and brands will make it easy to narrow down your search and avoid any unwanted purchases. Get familiar with the brand and if possible, go in to the store and scope out the bag in person. If Keeks doesn’t have what you are looking for, simply let them know the exact style and brand, and they will search for it and let you know when they find it. Simple as that!

3. Ask Questions

Don’t be afraid to ask for more information about the item. Buying vintage can be an investment. You want to make sure that you asked plenty of questions before pulling the trigger. Before shopping at Keeks, I asked about their buying process, return policy, and of course authenticity.

4. Authenticity Guaranteed

This is obviously huge. Any time you shop vintage or previously owned, you have to ask, check and research about the authenticity. Never buy from anyone that doesn’t guarantee authenticity. Keeks makes this department very easy and comforting as all of their bags are 100% guaranteed authentic. Be sure to read more about The Keeks Guarantee here.

5. Details Please!

When shopping anything previously owned, pictures are a must! Keeks provides the buyer with detailed pictures and specific measurements. Be sure to inspect every picture carefully and pay attention to corners, zippers, and labels. Keeks doesn’t sell anything that has been heavily worn- all of their items are in good or excellent condition!
