Things To Do In Positano

Positano Travel Guide

I am so excited to finally share with you a few of our photos and trip recommendations for the Almalfi Coast, specifically Positano.

Many of you followed along our trip via instagram and snapchat, and thank you for those who gave us recommendations during our European Trip. I wish we could have tried all of them, but we appreciate your help nonetheless.

Positano was one of my absolute favorite stops during our trip. You guys know how I feel about Paris, but this came in a close second! I would love to go back and stay the entire time there. We were stayed 3 nights, 4 days, but I still feel like we missed out on so much. This place is absolutely gorgeous. We went towards the end of May and the weather was perfect. It was mid 70’s in the morning and high 80’s in the afternoon. It did get hot walking all the steps, but it was nice laying by the beach and pool. I would highly recommend not packing heels. If you have to, maybe find one with a block heel, but I would avoid it all together. The cobblestone and steep hills are not exactly heel friendly! See the shoes I packed on our trip here.

Before I get started, one of the questions we’ve been asked the most since we traveled has been about our travel adapter. We used  this adapter and highly recommend it.  I also love that it doubles as a battery pack and could charge our phones.

Thanks for stopping by! xx Ashley

OUR FAVORITE RESTAURANTS

I joke that we ate our way through Italy, but it’s honestly true. The food is just too good to pass up. One of my favorite spots was Brunos. It had the most beautiful view overlooking the ocean. The food was also amazing. I believe I had some type of spaghetti and Austin had linguini and clams. We went right before sunset and had the best time watching the sun go down and seeing the city lights. We did not have reservations, but I would recommend having your hotel book you a table. It was very busy!

La Sponda Restaurant is probably the most beautiful restaurant I’ve ever seen. This was the dining room inside our hotel, and it was breathtaking. There is ivy coving the interior and exterior with open windows overlooking the water and Positano buildings. This restaurant is reservations only and books up really fast. We had to book our table before we even made it to Positano because it was almost full for the week! If you can’t make it for dinner, I suggest stopping by for a drink at their bar. There’s plenty of seating and is still just as beautiful! We also took a cheese and wine tasting class here. It was very informative and delicious!

For lunch one afternoon we went to Hotel L’Ancora to eat on their patio. I can’t seem to find the exact name of the restaurant but I know it was a very short walking distance of our hotel, Le Sirenuse. Again, more pasta! We enjoyed the fried calamari and gnocchi. Yum!

FAVORITE CITY SPOTS

Positano Travel Guide 20160521-DSCF4638-2

There is so much to do on the Almalfi Coast. While in Positano, we enjoyed walking around the city. Like I said, it’s lots of stairs and steps so be prepared for a great work out. Ha!  One morning we went down to the fish market and went inside various shops. There are so many unique vendors and shops near the beach. I loved seeing all the linen and sandals custom made by the shop owners.

We took a boat to Capri one day and spent a few hours there. It was so busy! I would probably take an earlier boat out so we could be there in the morning. It was fun to explore the city and gorgeous views. Capri has tons of shopping (think high-end designer) so if you’re wanting to buy a bag or nice shoes, that would be the place!

If you’re looking to book a boat ride, both private or with other passengers, there are plenty of options down by the beach. We went with one recommended by our hotel, but they were several that seemed reputable. We loved the boat tour. Be sure to pack your camera, you can’t beat the view!

WHERE TO STAY

20160519-DSCF4470

During our stay in Positano, we stayed at Le Sirenuse. You guys, this hotel is absolutely breathtaking (check out their pool here).  From the service to the decorations this hotel did not disappoint. We actually had to cut our trip short due to having to be back in the states for a last minute project and their customer service was incredible. They were able to change our schedule and made everything as stress-free as possible.

I am currently begging Austin for another trip back to Le Sirenuse (ha, it’s not going well!) but seriously, we would recommend this place to anyone celebrating a special occasion. It’s very romantic and perfect for couples. I hope to be back sooner than later!

Beautiful! Just what I needed to read, we are planning on spending a few days there next June. Hoping to stay in Le Sirenuse but if we can’t make that happen, do you have any other hotel recommendations?
