Quick Ways to Connect With Others Right Now

One of the things I miss most about normal life, by far, is seeing family and friends. I miss my weekly coffee catch-ups with girlfriends, weekends with family, and grabbing drinks with friends. I even miss work meetings! While this continues, we’re making sure to stay connected to loved ones and I honestly think it helps my mindset so much. On the days where I don’t have human contact with anyone outside my house (love my boys!), I definitely feel off.

While I don’t want to add any tasks to your quaratine to-do list, I do want to suggest some easy and quick ways to connect. Hope they help you if you’re feeling lonely or disconnected.

xx Ashley

1. ZOOM COFFEE DATES

While happy hour sounds great, the timing doesn’t always work out if you have children and are doing the whole dinner, bath and bed thing. Plus, I’m pretty exhausted by the end of the day that all I want to do is zone out in front of the TV (just being honest). Instead, think about a quick catch-up during over a cup of coffee before the kids wake up or when you sit down for breakfast.

2. LEAVE A NOTE FOR DELIVERY WORKERS

While this might not be a direct connection with a friend/family member, I think we’re all missing general human connection right now. Even writing a quick ‘thank you!’ on your mailbox, front door, or sidewalk is a sweet reminder of normal interactions.

3. BOOK OR NETFLIX CLUB

If you’re a book lover, this is the perfect time to actually stick to that book club. If you’re not a reader but love a good show, you could do the same thing with a series. Find something you enjoy and connect with your friends about it. You could do it with podcasts, too!

4. WALK + TALK

The highlight of my Quarantine days are walks, definitely. George loves them, they get me moving, fresh air, and it’s usually when I call a friend to chat. Having some semblance of a routine feels nice and so does staying in touch.

5. LIVE WORKOUTS

If you’re missing your fitness class and crave that usual time to connect, consider a LIVE workout. So many instructors are offering free LIVES which I think is really cool. It’s not a class, but at least you’re getting that live instruction and energy. You could also meet up with a neighbor (safe distancing, of course) to do this together.

OUTFIT DETAILS:

Free People Duster (FIT: Im in an XS but it is too tight to button. I would size up if you are busty and want it to button nicely) | Agolde Denim | Square Neck Bodysuit | Aviator Sunglasses | Sneakers

I went on a walk yesterday with my boyfriend and we walked by a yard where someone made a “mask tree”. They had homemade cloth masks individually prepared in ziplock baggies for people to take — FREE! They even had a note saying they were steam sterilized and are machine washable. It was the nicest thing and so generous!
