It’s always about this time each year I start my Fall/Winter coat search. I look through roughly 100-ish options and buy several to try-on at home. Then, I narrow it down to 3 or 4 that I want to keep. All in the name of research, right?
Finding the right kind of outerwear is key for a well rounded closet. Especially if you are like me and tend to dress more.. basic. I’m still searching for a cream coat, but in the meantime, here are two that I want to share with you.
I posted this coat earlier this week on instagram and my DM’s went crazy for it (especially the price). It’s the Scoop brand on Walmart and hear me out — this coat is fully lined, heavy, and perfectly oversized. Think Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen vibes. I like to do a quick search every now and then on Walmart and see what I can find. I always have the most success with Scoop, Time and Tru, or Free Assembly.
Fit plays a big part in the overall look and aesthetic and I wanted a black coat with an oversized fit, good fabric and the right about of slouch. If you can’t do shoulder pads or that “vintage menswear fit”, this won’t be for you. But if you like that look, trust me on this. I took a small and am just under 5’7.
The other option is a bit more trend focused, but it needs to be mentioned because I am seeing variations of these everywhere (and usually at high price points). This Faux Sherpa coat, also from Scoop, is kind of amazing. I personally love to pair black and brown together. You could dress this up with black trousers and black bodysuit underneath, or keep it casual with denim, black t-shirt and Ray-Ban sunglasses. The collar also gives a nice contrast and adds extra warmth. I’m wearing a medium, but I wish I would have ordered the small size to try and compare.
Are we into these? xx Ashley
