Sweater Vest & Aviators

Sweater Vest & Aviators

When it comes to functionality in accessories, sunglasses are near the very top of the list. Whether it's a classic pair of aviators or an oversized cat-eye, they are the perfect necessity year round. Since sunglasses are an accessory that I wear nearly everyday, I’m okay with making an investment in a quality pair that I love. However, I have found quite a few at Nordstrom that are under $150 and still great quality. A friend of mine has these and I could not believe they were under $100. I also love this pair by Le Specs.  It’s fun to see all of the different eyewear trends that emerge, but I always go back to the classics. Lately, I’ve been alternating between my Ray-Ban Large Aviators and this round pair by Chloe. Thanks for stopping by! xx

Home Updates with Lulu & Georgia

Home Updates with Lulu & Georgia

Today, I am excited to share a little update on our home makeover before the big reveal in January. Recently, I purchased this vanity for our bedroom, and was in desperate need for a few accessories to help style out the new piece. Lulu and Georgia has been my go-to ever since we moved almost two years ago. I frequently browse their website for new decor items, desk accessories, or furniture pieces. I've mentioned before, that home decorating intimidates me, but after working with Jessie (our friend and designer) she helped make this process so much more enjoyable and actually fun! Here are a few easy steps to help you style your vanity, dresser or desk. 1.  Get Personal Starting with a clean slate can be very daunting, but for some, it's an exciting challenge! I always like to incorporate a few personal touches into each space around our home. Whether it's a photo from a recent trip or my favorite perfume, it's all about what makes you feel at home and inspired. Call me old fashioned, but I love calendars and prefer to have something tangible to look at while I'm getting ready or working. This flip calendar was the perfect addition. Each month is a different glamor girl illustration. They are so pretty! I also like to ...

red colorblock cape

red colorblock cape

I’ve really been into capes and ponchos this season. From the classic shawls to the funkier knit styles–I’m into them all. I am especially loving this colorblock blanket cape from Chicwish (on sale). I like to keep my looks pretty casual, so I styled it with dark denim and over the knee boots (on sale) for a dinner date with friends. I have yet to figure out what I am wearing for Thanksgiving, so this might just be the winner. Do you guys have any exciting Thanksgiving plans? Both of our families live in near by, so we will be having lunch with my family and dinner with his. It makes for a busy day, but we enjoy having our families so close! Be sure to check back on Friday as I will have a curated guide to help you navigate the madness known as, Black Friday. However, I will make it so easy for you to shop the best of the best in sales all from the comfort of your own home. I will also be hosting a gift card giveaway where multiple people will win...it's going to be good! If you're looking to shop now, I suggest checking out the

Pattern Play: 3 Easy Tips for Mixing Prints

Pattern Play: 3 Easy Tips for Mixing Prints

Inevitably, I don't always find myself wearing prints or patterns. I guess I'm more of a minimalist based on the clothes hanging in my closet and can find bold prints sometimes daunting. That is until I saw this dress and striped shawl. However, when I first saw the two, I had no plans to wear together. I actually wore the shawl here and it was then that I realized it might compliment the dress (that and my latest obsession with Gossip Girl might have inspired me). I admit, pattern mixing can be intimidating. But I've found a few tips that have helped me a long the way. 1. First Things First Pick one thing at a time. It helps to find one statement piece, then lay other options around it to see what is the best accent. Colors, Textures and Scale all play a part in finding the right accent piece and laying the options out helps you see how well they compliment each other. 2. Seeing Stripes When all else fails, start with stripes. A great piece of fashion advice that I heard years ago, was to treat stripes as a neutral. Meaning, don't be afraid to pair it with leopard, florals, or other geometric prints. This is a great place to start for those who are intimidated by patterns. ...

Dressing for a Holiday Party

Dressing for a Holiday Party

Looking for a festive ensemble to wear this holiday season? Leave it to Nordstrom to have your back with a variety of holiday dresses, sequined tops and patterned skirts perfect to wear to any party. In my book, this is the most exciting time of the year. There's just something special about decorating the tree, hanging lights, and spending quality time with family. This year, Austin and I are looking forward to hosting our first ever Christmas party in our new home. We have been frantically working on finishing our home makeover, and while it's taken (much) longer than anticipated, we are so close to being done. Though, our party is a few weeks away and I have already started searching for a festive frock to wear that evening. I'm not always a "red" person, but I made an exception when I saw this scalloped lace dress. I love the details and it's definitely holiday appropriate.  To complete the look, I paired it with my bow tie blouse and favorite nude pumps. If you're looking for something festive, but not as dressy, I suggest these Slim Jacquard Pants or this faux fur sweater vest. Both are versatile and easily something you could transition into a work or evening look. If you have any ...

Oversized Sunglasses

Oversized Sunglasses

While we tend to think of Summer as a time to invest in a new pair of sunglasses, I couldn't help but search for a new pair just in time for Fall. Sunglasses have always been a favorite accessory of mine and I recently set out to find a new pair in a brown/burgundy tone. Having a round face myself, I find the best shapes to lean towards are those with rectangular lenses; this offers structure and will refine your look. I found these frames by Chloe at Nordstrom and I couldn't pass up the color and oversized fit. After reading reviews, they seem to be appropriate for most face shapes. I also saw this version for under $100 and they had a very similar fit & frame style. Sunglasses can be a great investment, especially if you opt for a classic pair, rather than something super trendy. I've had my ray-bans for 3 years and the aviator frame is still going strong. Another pair that I often hear great things about is this Cat Eye frame from Tory Burch. I love the beige tortoise color! Which frame style do you love the most? I have these on my Christmas list, but would love to hear your picks. Thanks for reading! ...

The Holiday Collection Beauty Buys

The Holiday Collection Beauty Buys

There's nothing quite like a new shade of lipstick just in time for the holidays. As a self proclaimed product junkie, I have been very excited to share this gift guide with you! Whether your shopping for your mom, sister or friend, these are sure to put a smile on someone's face. I always look forward to the holiday gift sets. And while, I might be a sucker for the cute packaging, I also look for products I will actually use throughout the year. This lipstick set from Laura Mercier is a practical (and cute) gift set. The colors compliment most skin tones and I find they look great worn alone or as a trio. Nordstrom has a ton of options so if you're looking for more red or nude colors, they've got you covered! Here, I've layered on the pink lipgloss (included in the kit) and I love the pop of pink. It's such a fun color! A great "all in one" option is the Enchanted Eve Face ...
