It's not everyday that we come across a jewelry brand that uses fashion and design to help others rise above poverty, and also happens to be super adorable. 31 Bits happens to be one of my favorite brands that focuses on giving back.
31 Bits started in Southern California by 5 college students, after founder, Kallie Dovel, traveled to Uganda. There she met women who grew up in a war and had nothing. They were single moms with no education and no job, however they were extremely talented artists who made beads and jewelry daily. Kallie was inspired by the female artisans who made beads out of recycled paper and knew she wanted to figure out a way to help them. The idea quickly became 31 Bits.
By helping these women sell their jewelry, they are giving these artists a chance at a fair and consistent income, education and healthcare. They are using fashion to make a difference, and I love them for it!

At Home with Lulu & Georgia
Hi everyone! I am so excited to team up with Lulu & Georgia today and share with you some updates around our home. As you may know, we recently bought our first home in July. It has been an exciting (scary) and fun time getting to decorate, and experience life as first time homeowners. And while it's been exciting, I have to admit that I totally struggle with making decisions (especially when it comes to home decorating). It can be a little intimidating buying new furniture! I knew I wanted to update our bar cart now that we had the space and Lulu and Georgia made it so easy for me. Happy Friday everyone! It's a happy day indeed because at 3:00 I officially start my "Thanksgiving break". Now before you start rolling your eyes, please note that at this very moment I am teaching 105 *very excited* students the "Thanksgiving Story" by assembling color coordinated beaded bracelets. Sounds easy right? Jokes aside, I actually love it and truly get excited for this time of year with my kiddos.
Now, let's talk about this outfit. When I saw this poncho, I knew it was a sweater I would wear constantly. It is so soft and versatile. I wore it last week with a black turtleneck and black skinnies under it and today I am showing you a more festive way to style this look. The Holiday Skirt
Ever since getting the Nora Skirt from Corilynn, I couldn't wait to wear it. Nothing makes me feel more girly than a classic fitting skirt and a great pair of pumps. This was the perfect look for dinner during our staycation at The Joule.

15 Minute Curls Hair Tutorial
One of my favorite hairstyles is simple loose curls. It's the style I wear almost daily, and it's one that I can achieve in 15 minutes. It took me years to finally figure out how to curl my hair without it being "too curly" and I want to share with you a few tips and tricks to achieve loose curls that will stay all day. Here are the steps:

What You Need:
Spornette Teasing Comb
Boar Hair Brush (only $12!)
Hot Tools 1 in. Curling Iron (on sale for $30)
Hairspray (I used Bumble and Bumble Spray De Mode)
Step 1: Go to bed with wet hair. Letting your hair air dry is the best kept secret to helping hair hold curls. I use one pump of Drybar 100 Proof Treatment Oil when its wet and brush with a wide tooth comb. I throw my hair up in a messy bun and let it air dry over night.
Step 2: Depending on hair texture, you may or may not want to add a little more of the 100 Proof Oil. Obviously I color my hair so it can always use a little moisture. Brush your hair out using a boar ...
Little Black Dress
Every girl needs that perfect little black dress. Finding the right LBD is essential to every wardrobe. I can't tell you how many times I have needed a cocktail dress and "can't find anything to wear". When that happens, I always turn to my trusted LBD.
I love this one by French Connection at Nordstrom. The style in timeless and it's a dress that can take you from season to season. Bow Peplum
Camilyn Beth has quickly become one of my favorite designers. You may know her for her classic dresses, but I recently fell in love with this bow peplum top. Last weekend, Austin and I went out for a date night and I wore this little number. I love peplums, but I'm always a little hesitant because I worry about the fit and if it will look flattering. Thanks to CB, she helped me find the right size and it was perfect. I kept thinking that with the holidays around the corner, this would make an excellent choice for parties, events or date night! Every girl needs the perfect "power pumps" (how's that for alliteration?). You know, the pair of heels that make you feel like you own the room, can accomplish anything, and just make you feel the upmost confidence. Thanks to Sarah Jessica Parker's shoe collection at Nordstrom, I have found my "power pumps".
