Beauty Talk | Laying the Foundation

IMG_1049

The perfect start to any makeup routine is a good base. I always use moisturizer or oil to give my face some hydration, but I also found out that it actually helps keeps my makeup on longer. Who knew? This CAUDALIE Beauty Elixir is one of my favorite ways to moisturize and give my makeup some extra lasting power. After I wash my skin, I spritz two pumps on my face. You can use before or after makeup, but I prefer before since it’s packed with the finest ingredients to help smooth skin and tighten pores. I absolutely love this stuff but if you need a little more hydration or SPF be sure to apply after you use the elixir.

Let’s talk coverage. To be honest, I have a love/hate relationship with foundation. It either looks to “cakey” or doesn’t cover at all.  Finally, I have found a happy medium. This Natural Performance Foundation by Lorac gives just the right amount of coverage and seems to stay on pretty good through out the day. (I always test my makeup after a day on the playground or carpool duty, if it can make it through that then it can make it through anything!)

I have the same relationship with foundation! It’s so hard to find the right balance. I’ve been using the Neutrogena Healthy Skin foundation because it’s a thinner consistency with pretty good coverage, but I might need to try the Lorac. I like that it’s oil free and paraben free! Always trying to find the next best thing! 🙂

I swear by Origins’ A Perfect World. It’s a tinted moisturizer plus it has SPF, so I actually use it as both a moisturizer and foundation. I put it on at night and in the morning.

I also wash my face with Dr. Bronner’s castile bar soap, which is made primarily from different kinds of oils, so it keeps my skin soft all through winter!

I love the beauty elixir. I have also started using Rodin face oil…pretty pricey but definitely worth it.
