I always enjoy trying new skin and beauty products, and if you’ve read my blog for a while, you know that I love sharing reviews with you in my Beauty Talk series.
Last week, I picked up sone new products for Fall, in prep for the Project Beauty Event I am hosting this Thursday at Neiman Marcus in Downtown Dallas (more details below). I wanted to find some new moisturizers to incorporate into my fall/winter routine as well as some new makeup.
Just like our wardrobe, your skin care routine should also change with the season. With colder temps coming our way, skin tends to become more dry and appear dull. It’s so important to hydrate all year, but especially in the upcoming season. I have used Kiehls for many years and recently got a sample of the Daily Reviving Concentrate and Midnight Recovery Concentrate. I loved it so much I wanted to get a larger size. This duo is nice for those who like to stick with the same brand for morning and night. So what do these do for your skin? The Daily Concentrate is super hydrating (but doesn’t make your skin look oily) and is provides antioxidant protection. I find that it helps my makeup go on smoother and oddly enough, helps it stay on longer. I used to be terrified of the thought of putting oil on my face but I actually prefer it over a moisturizer.
For nighttime, I use a few drops of the Midnight Recovery Concentrate over a clean face. For the record, I was a little hesitant about this product. It promises to give a glow and help with skins texture and overall appearance. As a 28 year old, I wasn’t so sure that I needed that. I tried the sample for 10 days, and I was pleasantly surprised. My skin looked more “fresh” and even had a glow about it. I noticed it the most on days when I would pass up on the makeup. I love this product and am actually going to get a bottle for my Mom (act surprised, Mom!) to use. She will love it!
In addition to using quality skin care, I firmly believe in the power of a Clarisonic. I had the Mia for two years, then recently upgraded to the Mia 2 when I gave my Mom the original one…don’t worry, she bought a new brush head! Both are great and honestly work very similar. However, I love that the Mia 2 has two speeds to optimize cleansing. I also like that it has a timer to let you know when to switch areas on your face. Either way, this is a tool that I have used for years and I am a huge fan.
When I first started using the Clarisonic, I used it 3 times a week. Now, I use the brush almost every morning. I’ve read so many reviews both good and bad, but I have to say this is my favorite skin care tool I own and I can definitely tell a change in my skin.
I have been on the hunt for a cream contour kit. I have the Anastasia Beverly Hills powder kit, and love it, but I have heard that the cream kits are better for blending and look more natural. I am still getting the hang of this, but so far I do find these much easier to use. I love this Shape + Sculpt Face Kit and Shape + Sculpt Eye Kit from Estee Lauder. This kit comes with a complete guide on how to use the creams depending on your face shape. This is a game changer for me, I can’t imagine going back to the powders!
What’s fall without a new plum lip? This is out of my comfort zone, as I typically wear a muted pink or nude, but I love the Sugar Fig Tinted Lip Balm paired with my Bobbie Brown Almost Nude Lipgloss. This is the perfect fall lip without looking too bold or vampy. It smells good too!

Gentle note: There is a repeat of a paragraph surrounding the Clarisonic. Also, have you tried the L’Occitane lip balms? I actually like them better than the Fresh balms AND they’re sturdier.
Thanks, Casey! I have not, but I do use their lotion and shower oil. I love those so I will have to give their lip balms a try as well. Are they tinted at all?
