The Cape, A Thompson Hotel

THE CAPE HOTEL REVIEW

Last week, Austin and I traveled to Cabo San Lucas to work on a project for The Teacher Diva and in the midst of shooting content and phone meetings, we also made an effort to relax and enjoy our time in Mexico (it’s always important to have balance, right?).

During our trip, we stayed at The Cape Hotel in Cabo San Lucas. The luxe resort is a singular beachfront retreat with a perfect view of The Arch and the Bahía San Lucas horizon. Thompson Hotels already have an outstanding reputation, and The Cape Hotel did not dissapoint.

The Cape Lobby

The incredible service starts as soon as you get off your plane and get through customs. The hotel offers private transportation to and from the airport, so you have the opportunity to take a private car (with complimentary bottled water, wifi and candy) to the resort. You can also find a local taxi easily when you walk outside of the airport. The private car is around $140 and the taxi is around $60. The drive is about 45 minutes, but it goes by pretty fast and you have a great view of the desert and beach.

From the moment we drove up to the property, we were impressed with the detailing and service. Austin and I were each greeted by the hotel staff offering us “Welcome Drinks” (this was a nice treat considering the hotel was not all inclusive). As we started walking through the hotel, various people greeted us (using our names) and welcomed us to the hotel. It was obvious each person made an effort to get to know the guests and there was always someone to help you or guide you if you had a question.

We stayed in the Deluxe King Suit overlooking the beach and pools. This room was incredible. You may have seen more footage on my snapchat [the teacher diva], but this room was gorgeous and very spacious. I personally loved the free standing tub in the middle of the room. How cool is that?

Our balcony had a swinging couch and table and chairs facing The Arch. It was the perfect view to wake up to!

The hotel has some pretty neat amenities on property. They have two restaurants, two pools, a swim up bar, lobby bar, and the Glass Box. The Rooftop Lounge is also a hot spot for this hotel, offering the most beautiful views of the city, beach and resort. At night, there is live music and a mixologist offering all of their signature cocktails. My favorite part had to be the pool side cabanas. They are first come, first serve (no additional cost) and you can use them for a few hours or all day if you’d like. They are located right by the infinity pool and overlooking the ocean. Spending the afternoon there was so relaxing!

Though The Cape was not all inclusive, my husband and I found that we really enjoyed the drinks and food so much more. The quality was top notch, so you get what you pay for. I didn’t find the drinks as “sugary” and we found the food to come in pretty good portions. We also noticed that we didn’t just “eat to eat” (if you’ve been to all inclusive resorts, you know what I am talking about!) which was nice. I highly recommend the house made chips and guacamole and the Shrimp Street Tacos from the pool bar…yum!

Overall, we really enjoyed each aspect of this property. From the beautiful landscape to the modern interiors, everything was nicely done and hope to be back again soon!
