Things to Do In Paris

Things to do in Paris

Earlier this month, Austin and I set off for a 3 week European vacation. This was a trip we have been planning for over several months and we were very specific with the places we wanted to go and see. While we were away, many of you asked questions regarding our trip. I wanted to answer some of the questions in this post and share with you some of our favorite spots in Paris.

It was a little intimidating planning a 3 week trip like this, so we asked for some help from Taylor, our travel agent. She was absolutely wonderful and helped make this truly the trip of a lifetime.

We started our trip with Paris. I was very excited about visiting Paris because it’s a city I’ve always dreamed about! When working out the timeline for our trip, we told Taylor we wanted to spend enough time in Paris to where we didn’t feel rushed. We wanted to enjoy the city as much as possible! We stayed here 5 nights and honestly it wasn’t enough. I can’t wait to go back! Here are a few of our favorite things to do in Paris…

Favorite Parisian Cafes

Paris is one of my favorite cities for dining. Everywhere you go there are beautiful cafes, checkered chairs, and delicious food.

One of our favorite places that we stumbled upon was Café Central. This is located in the 7th district and in the heart of an authentic Parisian market. We loved eating here so much we actually went there twice during our trip!  This was the perfect spot to people watch and sip your favorite drink.

We also loved Café De Flore located on Saint Germain. This popular place was yummy and in one of my favorite shopping locations. Though it gets busy, it’s worth the wait for a spot on the patio. We loved the Quiche Lorraine and Cappuccinos.

Cafe De Flore Parisian Cafe

We had the best pasta (a little random, I know) at La Campanella. Oh my goodness was it delicious! I loved this little cafe. It’s located near the Eiffel Tower, so if you’re heading that way, I would consider stopping by!

Best Coffee Shops & Pâtisseries

One of my favorite things we did during our stay in Paris, was visit various coffee shops and pâtisseries. Austin and I loved walking around the city and stumbling on different places. One coffee shop that came highly recommended was Café Kitsuné. We loved hanging out here. Great atmosphere and even better coffee!

What’s a trip to Paris without macarons? Having somewhat of a sweet tooth,  I really wanted to visit Ladurée and have tea in their tearoom. It was such a fun (and chic) experience. Austin really took one for the team on that one ha. But really- the macarons are amazing everywhere! I also loved the little shop (forgot the name) located across from Cafe Central.

Arc De Triomphe

As this was my first trip to Paris, I really wanted to see the different monuments. This was at the top of my list! While it was very crowded, it was neat to walk around the area and learn about the history behind The Arc De Triomphe.

Shopping in Paris

Shopping on Saint Germain

If you’ve come to Paris to do some shopping, than Saint Germain is where you need to be. This area is just beautiful and will not disappoint. We spent an afternoon walking around the area. It was so fun to window shop and pop into my favorite boutiques.

Beautiful Gardens

During our trip we stopped by a few gardens. These were perfect to relax and take a break. We loved visiting Palais Royal and walking around the gardens. There were several restaurants and cafes located along the gardens, making it super convenient to grab a latte and sit in the gardens.

Jardins du Trocadéro is also a must! This garden gives you a beautiful view of the Eiffel Tower.  I would recommend grabbing a sandwich and having a picnic in the park.

Our hotel was located near the Tuileries Garden so we were able to visit this area often. It’s a beautiful spot where you can walk around and view different scenes of Paris. There’s also a merry-go-round or ferris wheel for children (or yourself). The trees and flowers are gorgeous!

The Eiffel Tower

It has been a dream of mine to see the Eiffel Tower. This was such a special day and it was all I could have hoped for!

Breakfast at Le Meurice Hotel

We stayed at the Le Meurice during our trip and it was incredible. If you saw my snapchat story, you saw the floor to cleaning marble bathroom (insert heartens) and immaculate lobby and dining areas. Whether you stay there or not, I highly recommend making reservations for breakfast in their dining room. It is breathtaking and the food was perfection!

Pont Alexandre III

During our trip we pretty much walked everywhere. It was a great way to get some exercise but also see new parts of the city. We loved walking along the Seine and our favorite bridge was the Pont Alexandre III. It’s ornate details make it a must see and a perfect photo op!

I know I left off so much, but those were our highlights! Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions! xx Ashley

So when you go back you should check out the market at Denfert Roucherau, La Petite Chocolaterie for the BEST pain au chocolat at La Motte-Picquet-Grenelle metro stop, seriously SO GOOD! I love Cafe Flore and shopping on Saint Germain. Glad you had a nice time, lovely photos!

I sure hope you climbed the stairs inside l’Arc de Triomphe, because the view of the city from the top is to die for!!! My husband and I have been to Paris several times, as we both speak French, but each time we go, we discover new things – so glad you and your hubby got to go – everyone should experience it! xoxo
