A Dallas Staycation

20160717-DSCF6550

A couple weekends ago, Austin and I decided to do a little Summer Staycation in Downtown Dallas (you may remember seeing photos from our trip over on Snapchat). We love traveling and exploring new places, but there’s something nice about enjoying the city we live in. The Joule is one of our absolute favorite hotels in Dallas and we love any excuse to getaway.

On our way to the hotel, I wanted to wear something that was comfortable, yet could transition well to dinner at Americano. I opted for this lightweight striped kimono (love the colors) and white denim from the Summer Collection at LOFT. These cool colors immediately caught my eye and I knew they would be the perfect addition to my Summer wardrobe.

After getting settled into the hotel, we decided to walk to dinner. This was Austin’s first trip to Americano, but it will not be his last! He was a big fan of their pizza and house made meatballs. Having the sweet tooth in the family, I particularly liked the gelato!

The next morning, we decided to hit up our favorite coffee shop, Weekend (our go-to drink is the Californian, lightly sweetened), followed by a little time at the spa, then end the day by the pool. Little did we know that the rooftop pool was such a happening place. Word to the wise, if you plan to make a trip to The Joule and swim, go out early that morning to “reserve” your seats (aka throw a towel or two on a couple chairs). It gets very busy. We lucked out and grabbed a couple of chairs just as another couple was leaving! The pool was great and had a full bar and food menu (or you can bring your own food). It was so nice relaxing and cooling off by the water.

Sometimes, it’s fun being a tourist in your own city.  I wish we could have stayed at The Joule longer!

xx Ashley

OUTFIT DETAILS

C/O LOFT: Striped Kimono (fit: this is “one size” however, I would not recommend this for someone who is petite. I am 5’6″ for reference. This also looks adorable as a swim coverup) | White Crop Skinny Jeans (fit: tts) | Brown Canvas Wedges (fit: tts, surprisingly very comfortable and easy to walk in) | Round Sunglasses

It sounds like you had absolutely wonderful time and being a tourist in your own city is sometimes the best kind of getaway! I like your outfit very much and your poncho and sunnies are fabulous pieces.

I haven’t been to Dallas since I was a kid. I need to go back and explore the city more. It looks like a great place to visit!
