3 Tips to Dressing with Confidence

Plaid Blazer and Cream Sweater Outfit

When it comes to confidence, this world can put a lot of pressure on us. Male or female, we all feel anxious at times to look and feel 100 percent. It’s easy to get caught up in the comparison game or start feeling self conscious, but I always try to remember confidence is the best accessory. Well, that and a smile of course!

I’m excited to partner with Banana Republic again and share with you the launch of their new “Turn It Up” campaign. This new campaign focuses on ways we can turn it up in our day-to-day routine. Whether that is dressing for a first impression, focusing on a good attitude or feeling confident in our clothes, it’s important to make the most of each day and be our best self.

Over the years, I’ve picked up a few helpful tips that help in this department. We always have those days where we just don’t feel good in our clothes. I found these tips to stand true and boost confidence in my wardrobe. I hope they can help you too!

  1. Focus on your positive features

We’ve all heard the phrase “dress for your body type” and that could not be more true. Everyone is unique, and it’s important to embrace and love what makes you, you! Focus on your strengths and play up those areas in your wardrobe. For example, if you have great arms, show them! Rock that sleeveless top or dress. On the other hand, if you want the appearance of longer legs, try opting for darker colors on the bottom. Wear your dark denim or black pants with black shoes. I’ve found that it really helps if everything is the same color. I love wearing  black skinnies with my over the knee black boots.

  2. Embrace Your Personal Style

You do you, girl. There’s nothing more obvious that trying to force something to work. Don’t give in to all the trends if that’s not your thing! I love the look of flares and bell-bottoms, but honestly, they just aren’t for me. And if that’s your style, then embrace it! I love Banana Republic because their style is sophisticated and versatile. You know I’m more of a “classics” gal. I like that they make it easy to find timeless looks that will also pair well with trendy options. This Plaid Blazer is a great choice for me because it goes with so much I have in my closet. Here, I paired it with this textured sweater, but I also plan to wear it with a white or black blouse.

  3. Comfort is Key

I try to never leave the house feeling unsure about my outfit choice. I’ve done that before and didn’t feel  comfortable the entire night. One thing thats helps me in this department, is sending a photo to my mom or a friend. My mom and I always send each other pictures in the dressing room or at home when we are trying on our outfits. I can always count on mom to be honest (even when it hurts) and it always nice to have a second opinion! I also, like to stick with what works. I always have on hand a go-to black dress or go-to outfit for those times when I want to put in minimal effort.

How do you dress with confidence? I would love to hear your opinion! xx Ashley

Such a relevant post! My whole day is thrown off if I wear something to work that I’m not fully comfortable in. PS – Need those flats.

Dressing for my body type has made me feel much more confident in my clothing choices. I used to get worked up over not looking/fitting a certain way, but now I know what works for my body type and I go for it. Knowing my body type doesn’t always make shopping faster/easier, but it does make it fun! Jessika / beautybyjessika.com
