Why I’m Obsessed With Purple Shampoo

Being someone who colors her hair, I have a few tricks up my sleeve when it comes to color maintenance. After all, coloring services can get expensive and if you’re like me, you want to do whatever you can to keep haircolor from fading.

My hair is naturally light brown, with caramel undertones. I like to keep it lighter by adding cool blonde highlights and balayage. While I don’t mind a little warmth, I do not want my hair to look brassy.

The number one product that helps my hair from getting too brassy, is purple shampoo. I have used purple shampoo for years and it is still a product that I use regularly in my haircare routine. I  know, purple shampoo? It can sound intimidating but don’t worry, your hair will not actually turn purple! Instead, it will neutralize and yellow or brassy tones.

I am currently using the Cool Blonde Shampoo and Cool Blonde Conditioner by dpHUE. I love the smell and the fact that it helps keep brassy tones out of my hair. I only use these once a week and I leave the Cool Blonde Shampoo on my hair for 5 minutes. This is my favorite combination that gives me professional results at home.

My hair tends to get very tangled, so I use my Wet Brush and the ACV Leave-In Hair Therapy after I get out of the shower. This leave-in treatment is lightweight and protects my hair from heat damage. I highly recommend it for fine or thick hair!

All in all, this is a great product for blondes or anyone who wants to neutralize brassy or yellow tones. I love this trio! Have you tried purple shampoos? Thanks for stopping by! xx Ashley

My hair is naturally blonde, but I highlight it to keep it looking a little brighter. I’ve heard purple shampoo is supposed to work wonders! I’m going to have to try it out. Great post!

Purple shampoo is my favorite! My hair color is similar to yours and pull red, brassy tones. I have to use a purple shampoo once a week (sometimes twice). I am almost out of mine, will have to try this next!

Hi there! Thank you for your question. I currently use Fekkai Color Shampoo and Conditioner. I’ve also used Nexxus and Oribe and loved those as well!
