My Tips for Easy Travel Style

Spring is a big travel season for me. Having just returned from a work trip and gearing up for two more in March, my packing strategy and travel outfits have become somewhat routine.

When it comes down to it, I always go for something comfortable and practical. Sometimes “comfort” gets confused with lazy, but there’s still a way to keep things looking put-together, while being comfortable.

Here’s a few of my tips for easy airport style:

OPT FOR FLATS OR SNEAKERS

I always wear a comfortable shoe when traveling. I can still remember the morning we left for our honeymoon. We went to St. Lucia and had a connecting flight from Dallas to Atlanta. Our Dallas flight was significantly delayed and we literally had to sprint to the next gate/terminal for our connecting flight in Atlanta. Meanwhile, our names are being called over the intercom and they announce they are officially closing the gate. There I was, in my cute honeymoon sandals, wedges to be exact (it wasn’t a pretty sight). Thankfully, we made the flight! Lesson learned — wear comfortable shoes.

WEAR LAYERS

I always wear layers when I’m flying, even in the summer. I tend to get chilly on the flight and it’s nice to have something on my shoulders. I have had this tan cardigan for a while and often wear it while traveling. I also love this cardigan because it looks nice thrown over a slip dress as seen here. Packing tip: always pack versatile pieces that you can wear with other items you pack.

ORGANIZE YOUR CARRY ON TOTE

I love using this leather pouch to organize my headphones, back up battery, facial mist, antibacterial wipes etc. It’s a great size to fill with all of your carry-on essentials. It’s important to keep things organized to eliminate stress when traveling. I never travel without some type of pouch to hold these little things.

UTILIZE EXTRA SPACE

To make the most of your carry on, be sure to utilize all of the nooks and crannies. When I travel with hats, I either wear one on the airplane, or pack it in my suitcase. If I do decide to keep it in my suitcase, I fill it with my socks or pajamas (something that I don’t mind getting wrinkled). I also roll up my jeans and put them in my handbags. If I’m packing boots, I will also roll up my jeans and put them inside. Do whatever makes sense for you, but be sure to not waste that extra space. It’s amazing how much room opens up.

What are your packing tips?

      Hi Wendelyn,

Thank you for reaching out! The dress fits true to size with a relaxed flowy fit, but does have an elastic waste band. I would suggest getting a Small, but whatever you think you’re comfortable with! xx, Ashley
