Y’all know by now (hopefully!) that I love supporting small businesses throughout the year. I really try to highlight and source from small businesses not only because you can find amazing, unique finds, but because I know what it’s like to essentially be a smaller business. More so than ever in 2020, I think it’s important to support these small brands whenever we can. Obviously many have dealt with the struggles of COVID and I think we all want to give back in any way possible.
For today’s post, I wanted to showcase some of the small businesses I’ve shopped from and love. Y’all can find a lot of their items in my Gift Guides and I’ll continue to highlight more as I find them.
Please share any other small businesses that you know + recommend!
SMALL BUSINESSES TO SHOP FROM
ETSY – I’ve written a blog post on My Favorite Etsy Shops so I’m just going to leave that here since it’s a long list. I consistently shop from Etsy, maybe more so than any other retailer, and they have amazing gifts this time of year. Not to mention affordable and unique jewelry, kids items, beauty products and so on.
Beneath Your Mask – Some of y’all might recommend this brand from my Monthly Cut newsletter a couple months back. Their whipped skin soufflé is incredible and would be a nice gift for winter skin (or for expecting mamas, as I’ve heard this is great on growing bellies). The brand has other non-toxic hair + skin products that are beautifully packaged.
Saie – This is a newer clean beauty brand that I’ve been loving ever since I tried. Everything in their collection is natural-looking, easy to wear, and pretty affordable. I especially like their Glowy Super Gel and Slip Tint (tinted moisturizer with SPF).
Our Place – I was first introduced to this company’s Always Pan back in March and have truly been so impressed with it. So much so, I got another one recently and plan on buying a couple as gifts for family this season (if I can get my hands on one with their waitlist). Read more on my experience here but this is a great gift for someone who likes to cook even if they wouldn’t receive it by Christmas Day.
KNC Beauty – I’m a big fan of this brand and have purchased the star eye patches multiple times – definitely a favorite of mine. They have retinoids in them to help with crow’s feet so I highly recommend if that’s an area you’re looking to pay more attention to in your beauty routine. I also just bought the lip scrub which looks amazing. For more small businesses owned by black women, please see this post.
Waiting on Martha – She makes all kinds of beautiful home decor, gift baskets, and items that are good for the person who has everything.
Lashify Lashes – I’ve been using this at-home lash kit and have got to say, they’re as good as getting them professionally done, maybe better, so I think the girls in your life would appreciate it. They don’t ruin your lashes and last 5 days. They look just like extensions!
Nécessarie – If you’ve followed my blog or IG, you already know I’m a huge fan of their products. Especially their eucalyptus body wash and unscented body lotion. Their Body Ritual Set includes a few of their famous products and would make a lovely gift for pretty much anyone in your life. Use code ASHLEY10 for 10% off your order.
Urbanology Designs – We worked with this Dallas-based design team when building + decorating our house and I cannot recommend them enough! They also handmake beautiful, custom interior pieces.
Parachute – From spa towels to robes to bedding, this home store can do no wrong, IMO. Their quality is incredible and always on-trend while still feeling timeless. They’ve curated a holiday gift shop which will not disappoint.
Equilibria – I’ve shared my experience with this company before and while CBD isn’t for everyone, I’m a huge fan of this trusted brand. Read this post to see if it’s something you or a person on your list might be into. Use code ASHLEYROBERTSON for 15% off your first order.
