Chanel Quilted Loafer Review

If there’s one designer I like to invest in more than others, I’d have to say Chanel. Over the years, I’ve invested in handbags (see my Medium Chanel 19 Handbag review) and other accessories from them, and my latest splurge is on the quilted loafers.

Unlike the Gucci Loafers that were the go-to loafer for years (which I also love), the loafer that’s trending now is very different. Now it’s all about chunkier, more masculine-style loafers. And while some are too chunky for me, I quickly became obsessed with the look of the quilted Chanel pair. Like Chanel always does, this pair feels classic and has a feminine touch, and I tend to gravitate towards pieces that mix feminine and masculine styles like this.

Since I think it’s safe to call loafers in general the ‘it’ shoe right now, I wanted to share my thoughts on the Quilted Chanel Loafers.

xx Ashley

SIZE:

I am between an 8.5 and 9 and got the 39.

WHERE I BOUGHT:

Neiman Marcus

COMFORT:

They took a day to break in but now they fit great.

PRICE:

$1300

GENERAL NOTES:

+ I love to wear these with jeans or leggings, depending on the style I’m going for. I tend to wear them with straight-leg cropped jeans but I do think it looks cool when certain girls pair them with baggier jeans (just not sure I can pull it off). A go-to look would be a white button down, black straight-leg jeans and the loafers. Leggings and an oversized sweater, especially in all black, is another go-to for me while still feeling pulled together.

+ They instantly elevate any basic look and feel a lot more polished than, say, sneakers.

+ As I mentioned above, they need a day to break in but they don’t stretch out like the Chanel Espadrilles do.

+ They’re easy to walk in and wear.

+ Per the chunkier style, they’re kind of heavy but not uncomfortable.

+ They feel like they are made really well and will last.

DO I RECOMMEND? AND OTHER OPTIONS:

I totally understand that the price point is high for these, but if you’re looking to invest in a pair, I highly recommend them based on their quality, comfort, and versatility.

If you aren’t sure about the style and/or want to try the trend at a lower price point, I’ve seen a handful of pairs I like: Gucci has a Horsebit Loafer that are chic (nearly $1000 so not that much cheaper). The Sam Edelman Laurs Platform Loafer are $150 and remind me of an updated take on the popular Gucci Princetown Loafer (just chunkier). Mango has this classic Leather Penny Loafer for $130. As far as Under $50 picks, I can’t speak to the quality but as far as wearing a trend for a season, I like this quilted pair and their Chunky Loafer, too.

They took some breaking in, but I would wear them if I was doing light walking.
