The Essential Black Dress

IMG_3030

A simple black shirtdress (I also love this one) is one of my favorite things to wear during the spring or summer. It’s an easy option to throw on with flat sandals or pair with a chic pump for date night. I found this dress in New York when I was there for Fashion Week and have been anxious to wear it once the weather warmed up.

Over the past two weeks, I am embarrassed to admit how much I’ve worn this dress. The oversized fit and button details have made it an instant favorite. Here, I wore it with my block heel mules for a casual, yet elevated look. I love pairing black and cognac together…it’s a classic!

Thanks for stopping by! And THANK YOU for the sweet messages on social media about our anniversary. Austin and I appreciate you guys and loved reading your comments. Thank you! xx Ashley

This is such a beautiful and timeless look! I love how you stay true to your own style despite all the passing fads. The bag and sunnies are just classic pieces! Anyway, glad you had such an amazing anniversary! I am looking forward to hearing what you change your name/site to this year. Although as a teacher, I’m a little sad your saying goodbye to the teacher diva! 🙂

Thank you, Victoria! I am humbled by your sweet words. To be honest, I am sad to say goodbye to “The Teacher Diva” too. I think that is why I have taken so long to transition everything over. We are trying to figure out if I can keep the name on my blog as a category or series. It’s hard to let something go that was with you since the beginning! Thank you for following along! xx Ashley

Black dresses are a versatile piece of clothing that can never suffer the commotion of fashion.
