One of my favorite memories over the last year is photographing our home and sharing it piece by piece with all of you (check out our black and white office tour). This house was a major labor of love and all the praise we’ve received for it has blown me away! Of course I can’t take all the credit because Ginger from Urbanology Designs is the true mastermind behind it. I’m excited to keep sharing more details, especially as I add small touches here and there to really make it feel like us. I’ve tried to document as much as I could with the #AshleyAtHome tag on Insta.
On the topic of our house, one of the most-asked questions lately is where we got all of our faux houseplants. I’d love to tell you they’re all real and that we grew them ourselves, but who am I kidding, I don’t exactly have a green thumb, so faux it is! And while it may seem like a little bit of an investment up front, it truly is worth it to have the “set it and forget it” mentality. It seems like a lot of you are in the same boat because I get asked daily what the best places are to buy faux houseplants. To help, I did some research and came up with four really great options that will definitely get you on the right path.
All the faux plants you see in our home were sourced by Urbanology Designs. If you talk to Ginger, she can order for you. I know a lot of you in particular have had your eye on the faux olive tree you’ve seen in our dining room. It’s one of my favorite touches in the house, so I completely understand wanting one. The last I heard, Urbanology Designs was out of stock but they are working hard to get more, so if you’re interested (in the olive tree, or anything else in the house), reach out to Ginger or check my “Home Build” highlight on Instagram.
Wayfair is a great resource for lots of budget-friendly home finds. I did a deep dive into the faux houseplant section and found some really great, affordable options. I tried to include different sizes as well so depending on your space you could still find what you’re looking for. For example, this more bushy Fiddle Fig would be amazing in a more open, large room, while this one is great for smaller spaces. I also found a medium-sized olive tree that I think looks good. I made sure what I linked has great reviews too, so everything should be good quality.
Is there anything you can’t find on Amazon? It might not be the first place you think of when shopping for faux plants, but I decided to check out what was available because I have heard really great things about the quality of this Bird of Paradise Palm. I also came across this all green Snake plant, which I think is very chic. Again, everything I linked to has great reviews. Plus, you can usually never go wrong with a good Amazon find!
Pottery Barn always has great stuff, but what really made me include them on this list was the variety they have in stock. Not only do they have classics like this faux Saguaro cactus and this potted fern, but they also have things like faux potted citrus trees (thinking about getting one of these for summer) and faux stems you can use in vases like these Aloe leaves. I actually just bought the XL Olive Tree for our patio. We wanted something tall and wide, and this seemed to check those boxes. I am anxious for it to arrive!
