The Hair Accessories I Want to Try this Season

The Hair Accessories I Want to Try this Season

I’m usually pretty simple when it comes to my hairstyle — I like loose curls, piecey layers and a somewhat "undone" approach to my everyday hairdo. But lately, I’ve had so much fun with hair bows and headbands. There’s definitely a trend we are seeing in wearing accessories like silk ribbons, scrunchies and headbands. Not only is this the perfect solution to second (or third) day hair styling, but it also offers a youthful feel without being too childlike.  ...

How I Get My Everyday Loose Curls

How I Get My Everyday Loose Curls

I am so excited to finally share an updated hair tutorial featuring how I get my everyday loose curls. I'm definitely not a pro, but this is my regular routine and my favorite way to style my hair. Not only is it a low maintenance hairstyle, but I actually figured out how to get my curls to last a good 2 (maybe 3) days without restyling. Don't worry, I'm sharing my secrets below. I hope you enjoy this loose curls hair tutorial! If you try this tutorial and love the results, be sure to tag #TTDbeautytalk on instagram or twitter for a chance to be featured on my instagram-stories! Thanks for stopping by! xx Ashley HOW TO GET LOOSE CURLS

  1. Start with clean hair. If time allows, I let my hair air dry overnight. This gives it some texture and helps keep the curl bouncy. Before curing, I use Oribe Royal Blowout. This heat protecting mist helps fight frizz, heat damage and gives a subtle sheen to your hair. It's weightless and works on both wet or dry hair. I know it's pricey, but it's good. The directions say to use it on damp hair, but my hair stylist recommends using it on wet or dry hair.
  2. Section your hair. I usually divide ...

Why I’m Obsessed With Purple Shampoo

Why I’m Obsessed With Purple Shampoo

Being someone who colors her hair, I have a few tricks up my sleeve when it comes to color maintenance. After all, coloring services can get expensive and if you're like me, you want to do whatever you can to keep haircolor from fading. My hair is naturally light brown, with caramel undertones. I like to keep it lighter by adding cool blonde highlights and balayage. While I don't mind a little warmth, I do not want my hair to look brassy. The number one product that helps my hair from getting too brassy, is purple shampoo. ...

Messy Chignon Hair Tutorial

Messy Chignon Hair Tutorial

In honor of awards season, I wanted to share with you one of my favorite red carpet hairstyles, the classic chignon. I love this timeless style and find that it's appropriate for many occasions. We've seen this style polished to perfection, but I wanted to share my take on a slightly messier version  that I find chic and "effortless". It's actually pretty easy too! Thanks for reading, and here's to fabulous looking hair! xx Products Used: Pro Beauty Tools: 1 ¼” Professional Gold Curling Iron Oribe: Superfine Strong Hairspray Nexxus: Promend Heat Protectant STEP ONE I find that day old hair works best for this updo, it gives the hair a little extra grit and volume when worn up. Start by throwing in a few curls with a 1 ¼” Professional Curling Iron. This curling iron is my favorite because I love the size (perfect for those loose curls) and it has a variety of heat settings, making it ideal for all hair types. The barrel is 24k gold plated, and the high heat of the curling iron gives me 24 hour, long lasting curls, which is perfect for a long night out. I am very picky when it comes ...

Effortless Waves Tutorial

Effortless Waves Tutorial

Happy Friday! One of my favorite (and easiest) ways I like to style my hair, is by throwing in a few loose waves. And while I love curls, waves are definitely my go-to look for an easy, every day style. Many of you have requested more hair tips & tutorials, so I'm excited to kick off 2016 with my most requested tutorial; tousled waves. Here's to happy, healthy hair! To achieve this look, simply start with clean, damp hair. I have been using the Nexxus New York Salon Care Color Assure Regimen and have been very happy with the results. I find myself to be pretty picky when it comes to hair products (aren't we all?) and this regimen has worked wonderful for my hair. It's so important to use a sulfate free shampoo when you have color treated hair. Here, you can read more hair tips for color treated hair. PREP Before blowdrying, use Nexxus New York Salon Care Oil Infinite Nourishing Hair Oil on towel dried hair. This stuff is the bomb. It ...

How To Make Hair Color Last

How To Make Hair Color Last

Let's face it, there's nothing like a touch of color to update your look. And while some of us prefer the natural approach, studies show that over 70% of women do color their hair. If you're like me, you probably can agree that nothing beats that fresh hair feeling you have when you leave the salon. Chances are, you love your new "do" and are willing to try anything to maintain the look for as long as possible. Many of you have asked for suggestions on how to maintain your hair color and after working in a salon for most of high school and during summers in college, I picked up a few tips that I've found helpful. In an effort to help you keep your haircolor alive as long as possible, here are five ways to keep your hair from fading: Wait to Wash When you color your hair, your stylist should remind you to not wash your hair for at least 48 hours. It's one of the most common mistakes, but important because the longer you wait before shampooing, the better chance your new color has to settle in. Find the Right Shampoo and Conditioner The first step to long lasting color is using a color protecting shampoo. I've been using Nexxus New York Salon Care Color Assure Shampoo because it is extremely gentle and sulfate free. I love the way it makes my hair feel and smell! The Nexxus New York Salon Care

Dutch Braid Ponytail Tutorial + Giveaway

Now that the holiday season has officially arrived, I wanted to share with you a hairstyle perfect for any upcoming festivities. This braided ponytail is one of my favorite looks and I love the messy texture. Gone are the days where every strand has to be in place. Now, we are embracing texture, loose curls, and of course, volume! Pro Beauty Tools, doesn't want you to miss out on the fun, so be sure to check out below and see how you can win some of my favorite hair appliances. They deliver professional performance and quality that will have you styling like a pro in no time. Good luck and thanks for stopping by! xx 1. I recommend this look on day old (or 2-day old) hair. I find that when my hair is dirty, it actually turns out better when doing a braided updo such as this. Start by spraying dry shampoo all over hair, focusing on roots. I've tried numerous brands, and one that I am currently loving is the Moroccan Oil Dry Shampoo (I use the color light and it helps keep my roots not so harsh). Use at the roots for added volume and a matte texture. Be sure to brush out the powder with a
