Travel Beauty Must Haves

Katey McFarlan and Ashley Robertson

Last weekend I had the joy of getting to room with my sweet friend Katey McFarlan at our work conference. Many of you know her for her gorgeous home and adorable puppy, Peaches, but I am excited to share a fun project we worked on featuring our favorite travel must haves.

Katey and I have so much in common. From lipsticks to home decor, we love very similar things! But our friendship goes beyond the clothing and pink lipstick. We met 3 years ago at a brunch in Dallas and I knew right away that we would be friends. Not only is she one of the nicest (and most generous) people I know, but she has a heart for Jesus and is not afraid to share her faith. We literally talk almost daily and I am so lucky to call her my friend!

Katey and I often get emails and comments asking for a reviews on our favorite lip colors, hairspray and beauty products. Since we love to help, we thought it would be fun to put together a little post featuring our top favorites and also share our lipsticks from our Snapchat video last weekend [username: the teacher diva].

Here are my favorite travel beauty products:

ORIBE DRY TEXTURE SPRAY

You’ve heard me talk about the Dry Texture Spray several times on here (like in my Healthy Hair Tips) , but it really is the most amazing product. It is the first thing I grab any time I travel and it is truly a multi-use product. I spray this at the roots (and under the top layer of my hair) for added volume and texture. It can also double as a dry shampoo! I will even use this as a “next day” styler and it helps hold my leftover curls. All in all- amazing product.

NueLASH Review

 NEULASH EYELASH AND BROW SERUM

OK, I am the first to admit I was skeptical about this “magic serum” that everyone was raving about. I just wasn’t sure if I wanted to spend $100 on a lash serum that would take me weeks to tell if it even worked. Well, after reading countless reviews and having friend that have tried (and loved) NeuLASH, I decided to bite the bullet and purchase a tube for myself.

Now, I am quite addicted to this stuff and make sure I put this on every night (you can miss a night here and there, but it’s best to keep a consistent routine). Honestly, it took a while for me to see results. I began to wonder if it was even working until about a month into using the product. I had strangers and friends begin to compliment me on my lashes! My mom always talks about them when we see each other and wants to know how she can get lashes like this. I always suggest giving this a try.

3 FAVORITE LIPSTICKS

Katey and I had so much fun sharing our favorite (and not so favorite) lipsticks with you all on Snapchat last weekend. Many of you wanted to see them written down as well, so we wanted to include those details in our blog post.

  1. My newest lipstick obsession is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick. This is a matte lipstick and it has serious staying power. If I put this on in the morning, it will last through coffee, meetings and lunch! My favorite colors are “Blush” (wearing in this post), “Pure Hollywood” and “Catnip“.
  2. I also talked about the YSL Glossy Stain in #17 Encre Rose. This is probably my favorite color I own, however it does not last quite as long at the ABH Liquid Lipstick. It definitely lasts longer than your typical lip color and it gives your lips a youthful sheen.
  3. My favorite “nude” ever, has to be the YSL Rouge Volute  Lipstick in “Nude Beige”. I really wish this “lasted” as long as the others, but I’m afraid it only stays on few a couple hours. However, it does create the most beautiful nude lip color. I always get asked about this color when I wear it out. I find this to be my perfect “every day shade”.

LONG WEAR MAKEUP & HAIR CARE

When I am traveling, the last thing I want to do is tote around my entire makeup collection. As a self proclaimed “Beauty Junkie” I may have more than the average girl, but when I’m on the road I only take the best of the best. The It Cosmetics CC Illuminating Foundation is that to me. I wear the color “Medium” but mix in the CC Bronzer when I use my self tanner.  I’ve tried so many different foundations and while I have 2 or 3 that I consider amazing, I find these to offer great coverage and they are very easy to travel with. The packaging is pretty much fool proof and I don’t have to worry about spilling and leaking.

Brow Power is a long lasting eyebrow pencil. Sadly, I am almost out of this and will be needing to replenish soon! I love the “universal” color and find it very easy to blend.

One secret to longer lashes is by using a primer. The Benefit They’re Real Last Primer is a great way to achieve longer lashes without having to use a growth serum.

The best long lasting eyeshadow has to be the Bobbi Brown All Day Cream Shadow in “Beach Honey”. I’ve purchased two containers of this, and it’s still number one for me. That’s saying a lot because typically with eyeshadows, I like to bounce around and try new things.

My absolute favorite brush ever has to be my $10 Wet Brush. You guys this brush is a life savor if you get tangles. You can use on wet or dry and it is literally painless. This is a dream for those who are tender headed!

When you put your dry shampoo on at night do you work it in and then put your hair up, or do you just spray it in and put your hair up and brush it out in the morning? Thanks!!
