NYFW Diary

Well another Fashion Week is in the books and I had a few questions regarding my trip, so I put together this little recap from my recent trip to NYC. I won’t bore you guys with all the details, but I did want to share some of my NYFW highlights!

It’s always exciting preparing for Fashion Week. I have everything planned out in a spreadsheet and my google calendar is updated with all meetings, showroom visits, and shows. I guess you could say the teacher in me likes everything to be highly organized. As “exciting” as it can seem, it’s very hectic and busy. At the end of the day, I am very thankful for the opportunity, but it’s being organized is the key to a successful week.

Here a few of the snapshots from my trip to NYFW.

Travel Essentials

The first part of my trip was spent at HGU. I loved staying at this hotel. It was the perfect location for shows and short distance between most of my showroom visits and meetings. Several of you messaged me on snapchat about our hotel, and we highly recommend HGU. The location, customer service and comfort exceeded our expectations!

I started my mornings out by using my favorite beauty products. While I love trying new things to review for you guys, I do have my core products that I re-buy time and time again. One newbie that I am *obsessed* (yes, you read that correctly) with is the Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid. I use the pink color under my eyes, (before foundation and a little after applying foundation) and I am VERY impressed with how this feels and looks on my skin. It brightens under eyes and does not crease.

One of my favorite shows was Marissa Webb and Self Portrait I loved the minimalistic style and clean textures from their SS17 collections.

I don’t typically do a whole lot of back stage photographs and interviews, but this year I went backstage with M-A-C Cosmetics for Self Portrait. I shared a lot of behind the scenes on my snapchat, but here a few if you weren’t able to catch it on snap. I got a few samples of the SS17 lipstick collection. There is a nude pink that I love. Stay tuned because I will be sharing more when they release.

I also loved the Banana Republic presentation. Their collection is always one of the best in my opinion. While I love the runway shows, Banana Republic is a more realistic option for me (and most people). The collection was so beautiful and I can’t wait to get my hands on that white dress next Spring.

fourteen jay hair salon

After a few days in the city, it was nice to stop by Fourteen Jay Salon and see John Warren. He gave my hair fresh blowout and a little volume with curls. Next time you’re in the city, you need to stop by this Aveda Concept Salon!

Marc Fisher

When in NYC, I love meeting with some of my favorite brands. I don’t get to NYC too often, so when I’m there, I like to make the most of my trip. I’ve been a fan of Julie Vos for quite some time, and love getting to actually meet Julie herself one morning. I picked up this pendent and pearl earrings.

I also met with my friends at Marc Fisher. I’ve purchased several pairs from them over the years, and I loved finally getting to meet with them at their show room. I picked up these strappy flats (they run true to size) and wore them several times during our trip. They are very comfortable and I love the style.

dutch braid hairstyle

I love stopping by the TRESemmé booth when I am NYFW. They always create the most unique and fun hairstyles. I opted for a braided up-do with a chunky dutch braid. I tried to take note, but let’s face it, I’ll never be able to re-create something like that! Outfit details are listed here (just click the photo, then you will find links & outfit details).

Also, how can I forget the delicious food. We loved dining at Le Sirena. I was told it’s a fairly new restaurant, but it was already very popular. I highly recommend getting reservations for dinner!

Thanks for reading and following along my NYFW adventure! I will be sharing one of my outfits tomorrow and the rest next week. Have a great Wednesday! xx Ashley
